In the last couple of years, the happiest happening for filmmakers in Mollywood is the ever increasing amounts that the films fetch as channel rights. The superstar films are able to make around fifty to seventy lakhs as channels rights which come around one-third of their production costs. Mammootty’s bilingual 'Vande Matharam’ is one such film, that fetched around sixty five lakhs by selling the rights, even as the film is under making. The recent hot property among Malayalam channels is Mammootty's 'Parunthu' which will start its shoot only by the next month. The hype in channel rights market is due to the recent news about Nayantara agreeing to be the heroine of this film. If the makers of this film stick to their present plans, the super actress of South Indian cinema who is at the helm of her career after the super success of her film 'Billa', could be presented in Malayalam, after a gap of three years.
