Jayaraj with 'Souparnika'

Jayaraj has been the busiest of the Malayalee directors for the last two decade. He has been churning out films in regular intervals. And he has also developed a habit of not waiting for his previous film’s results in the box office, starting his next in a shortest while from completing his last. In this pace race of creating movies he has already completed 27 movies in a short span of 18 years. Winner of several national and international awards, Jayaraj continues as a nonconformist, never ever sticking to any kind of rules or trends that remain in Mollywood. He makes both 'crass commercial’ ventures as well as thought-provoking films in successions, puzzling critics and masses alike. Even as his latest movie, 'Gulmohur' featuring director Renjith is on song in theatres from this week, Jayaraj has already started the preproduction of his next movie with Prithviraj titled 'Sorparnika'. Based on the famous drama by late Narendra Prasad with the same title, the movie will be scripted to suit the screen by B R Prasad. Jayaraj also have plans to work on another movie with Mohanlal, on the life and struggles of Kunjali Marikkar, one of the first freedom fighters of the nation.
